jewelry Type
Jewelry Type is an interactive projection that turns your bare hands into a live canvas. This was created as a result of a question – “how can something basic most people interact with every day turn into something new and unexpected?”
Testers were invited up to a screen, which prompted them to lay their hand flat and type any word into the keyboard, or to type the word ‘ring’ in specifically and watch as the words flow over their hands.

The Process
I was very inspired by Delicate Boundaries by Christine Sugue (https://youtu.be/gO3ohFG_YoI) throughout the whole process.
ChatGPT and Claude AI were used to turn my original idea into code in P5.JS.
Calibration was one of the most important parts of the development of this project. Each of the red circles would be placed as closely as possible to the knuckles, and it was especially important for the thumb to be in the correct placement. Because everyone has a different hand shape, some longer, some wider, some thinner, it was important to set up the initial calibration so the ring and words were able to be placed in the right place.
